Micro Gears and Micro Thread Inspection with Industrial CT Scanning

Industrial CT (computed tomography) is a fully automated scanning process which interlaces 2D x-ray images to produce 3D representations of components both internally and externally. Once the component is scanned by the  CT scanning equipment, measurement can be retrieved by the CT dataset, allowing viewer to inspect, measure, and examine external and internal geometry of components used in tools machinery. By utilizing various software platforms (including GearPro), small gear and thread geometry can be determined, such as inner diameter, outer diameter, pitch diameter, pitch, tooth to tooth comparison, total comparable air, test radius, run-out, etc for error detection and verification.  Jesse Garant & Associates (jgarantmc.com) is a metrology laboratory offering services for industrial CT scanning (3D xray), a NDT method.
