Inspection of a fossil can easily be performed using industrial computed tomography (CT) scanning to view internal and external features. Since CT is an x-ray technology, it is a NDT testing method, as no pressure or fixtures are applied to the part being scanned. CT scanning is an ideal way to examine and measure parts both inside and out. CT scanning allows for internal analysis of a fossil by virtually slicing through the fossil on the 3D computer rendering.
